In Memoriam Keith L. Beseke
(August 13, 1947-August 15, 2022)
Long time EB enthusiast and CEB-US member Keith Beseke, 75, of Welch, Minnesota passed away on August 15, 2022 after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Keith and his spouse Sue, became involved with the Epagneul Breton in the 1990’s and were Charter Members of the Club De L’Epagneul Breton of the United States (CEB-US) since its beginning in 1997. They attended a majority of the club’s activities and Annual Conclaves over the last 25 years, as well as supporting the regional activities of the Great Northern Epagneul Breton Club in the upper Midwest. Keith and Sue were recognized by CEB-US as recipients of the Peter Ward Service Award at the recent 2021 Annual CEB-US Conclave in Minnesota based on their many years of loyal, dedicated and generous support of the Epagneul Breton community and clubs with their time, resources and talents.
Keith was a devoted upland bird hunter, and especially loved to pursue woodcock and grouse in the Minnesota coverts near his home with his Epagneul Bretons. He also enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs in North Dakota each year. In spite of his progressive illness, Keith managed with resolve and determination to go hunting in Minnesota and North Dakota last fall, as well as to attend the Minnesota Club’s training day earlier this year. Outside of his interests in EBs and bird hunting, Keith was devoted to his friends and family. He was musically inclined and enjoyed playing the guitar, as well as running for exercise and recreation. Keith greeted everyone with a smile and handshake, and had a warm and engaging nature, a dry sense of humor, and enjoyed occasionally sharing a taste of a good single malt scotch with friends. Keith is survived by his loving wife, Sue Beseke and their EBs “Kit” and “L.J.” A Celebration of Life will be planned and announced for a later date. The family expressed special thanks to the personnel of the Virginia Piper Cancer Care Center in Hastings, Minnesota for their care and support in connection with
Keith’s three plus year battle with cancer. Charitable Donations may be sent there at 1175 Nininger Road, Suite B1, Hastings, MN 55033. Several memorials have been pledged and will be made in Keith’s memory to The Epagneul Breton Foundation, Inc. from friends who knew him through the EB community.
